What is Tempurpedic Viscoelastic?

Viscoelastic is pressure absorbing and temperature sensitive mattress foam. Visco means it is resistant to change in shape and elastic means it is able to return to its original shape. Tempra mattress foam or TEMPUR is Tempur-pedics name for viscoelastic.

The Tempurpedic viscoelastic senses the temperature and weight of the source and conforms to the exact dimensions of the individual’s body. Pressure will be absorbed evenly on the entire surface. The Tempur sensitive material will react to your bodies’ temperature and become softer where your body makes the most contact on the surface. This will provide a perfect custom fit for each individual. Once the pressure is removed from the mattress the material will return to the initial shape. Spring mattresses are made from heavy-duty metal springs and coils. The foundations (box springs) to act as a brace are made from wood and steel combinations. The mattress and foundations are then topped with a quilted layer of fabrics such as, polyester, acrylic, cotton, silk or wool. These materials cannot conform to the body like the Tempra mattress for the comfort and supportive sleep the body needs.

A Tempur-pedic mattress also features an allergy resistant formula. They have come up with a formula to reduce bacteria’s, molds, mildew, dust mites and odor causing germs that are typically found in spring mattresses. Spring mattresses can harbor dust mites and bacteria’s without you even knowing, they are microscopic to the naked eye. Dust mites have been identified the leading cause of asthma and allergy related symptoms.
