Tempurpedic is Pressure Relieving

Tempur-Pedics TEMPUR material absorbs and redistributes your body weight (pressure) across the entire surface area to relieve painful pressure points, reducing tossing and turning and increasing circulation.

Pressure points can cause discomfort and a seemingly endless night of tossing and turning. Computer mapping using pressure-monitoring sensors shows that a Tempur-Pedic mattress virtually eliminates these painful pressure points (shown in red on the conventional mattress). Sleep clinic studies also indicate that the Tempurpedic mattress drastically reduces tossing and turning. Dropping a ball on TEMPUR material illustrates how it seems to catch the ball and cushion the impact by absorbing the pressure exerted in its free-falling weight. In classic TV spots, Tempurpedic did a similar demonstration where a pitcher threw an egg at the Tempura mattress. The forward force was absorbed by the mattress, keeping the eggs fragile shell intact.

The Tempurpedic mattress does not push back against the body. Counter pressure (which would make a ball bounce or the egg break) is virtually eliminated. There is no longer a need to toss and turn, which is the body’s reaction to the pain created by counter pressure and poor circulation.
